Laboratory Of Tribological Systems Diagnostics

The Laboratory accredited by the Polish Center for Accreditation as a research laboratory. The laboratory operates in an internal quality management system compliant with NATO standardization document AQAP 2110 and ISO 9001.

The laboratory performs:

  • Diagnostics of the technical condition of aircraft engine bearing systems
  • Diagnosing on-board hydraulic installations of aircraft
  • Diagnosing tribological arrangements of machines and devices

Offers testing of the following working fluids:

  • lubricating oils
  • hydraulic oils
  • fuels
  • other petroleum products

APPLIED TEST METHODS:

Determination of the content of elements accumulating in the working liquid by optical emission spectrometry with a rotating electrode in the range from 1 to 900 ppm depending on the element.

Determination of the content of elements by optical emission spectrometry with a rotational electrode using Rotrod Filtration Spectroscopy enabling the measurement of particles above 8 micrometers.
Determining the parameters characterizing the consumed products accumulating in the working liquid by the ferrographic method.

Determination of the content of elements separated from the liquid by X-ray fluorescence in the range of 5 to 5000 ppm depending on the element.
Determination of granulometric composition of solid foreign bodies in the working liquid by means of an automatic particle counter by direct method.
Determination of kinematic viscosity using a kit for automatic kinematic viscosity measurement of used oils.

Determination of the content of chemical compounds in working fluids, among others: water, coal, tar compounds using a semi-automatic FT-IR spectrometer.
Determination of the fuel oil content using a Fuell Snifer with a measuring range of 0 to 10% of fuel dilution (diesel, gasoline or other light hydrocarbon fuels) in engine oils.
Determination of color in oil samples using the Lovibonda colorimeter.
Determination of the density of working liquids using an automatic density meter.

THE APPLICATION OF THE TEST METHODS LETS:

  • assessment and forecasting of the technical condition of the system during ongoing operation;
  • determination of chemical composition (from Ca to U);
  • getting early signals of increased wear of system components;
  • detection of pre-emergency conditions and undertaking appropriate preventive measures
  • identification of the source of pollution of the working liquid - an indirect method of detecting fuel in oil - leaks in fuel and oil systems
  • operating the system according to its technical condition, not according to the service life
  • planning deadlines for necessary maintenance and repairs
  • verification of repairs - observation of the process of elements' break-in;

Accredited Laboratory of Tribological Systems Diagnostics performs research for military and civil aviation, border guard, police, public transport and industry.
