The Air Force Institute of Technology is responsible for the development of an interpretive IT system supporting the tree and shrub management methodology adjacent to railway lines overseen by PKP PLK. The solution will ensure compliance with legal obligations while addressing the necessity to adapt to climate change. The project activities aim to overcome technological and technical barriers by implementing cutting-edge, AI-based IT solutions that enable proactive environmental risk management in the vicinity of railway infrastructure. The developed system will also contribute to the advancement of innovative image recognition technologies.

From a societal perspective, the project will enhance railway traffic safety on lines managed by PKP PLK.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, the Air Force Institute of Technology, and the Polish Air Force University.

Project value: PLN 5,835,426.26
Funding received: PLN 2,917,713.13
Project duration: 3 years

The project is co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development under the joint initiative “NCBR–PKP PLK S.A. for the Support of Scientific Research and Development Activities in the Field of Railway Infrastructure – BRIK II.”
