Air Force Institute of Technology hosted a scientific and technical conference "The Centenary of Polish Aviation. Perspectives of development " Conference took place on November 22, 2018.
Warsaw-Masovan Branch of the Association of Polish Military Aviation Seniors was the honorary patron of the event.
The aim of the conference was to analyze the current state of Polish aviation in the perspective of its 100-year history and to present possible directions of its development and modernization for the next 20-30 years. After many years of success and maintaining a high level of flight safety, the Air Force is undergoing a period of serious air accidents. This state is disturbing and requires clarification of the conclusions. "Perhaps a long-term development plan is needed, independent of changes in subsequent governments." The conference council consisted of three representatives of the Air Force Institute of Technology: Director Ph.D.D.Sc.Eng. Mirosław Kowalski, prof. ITWL, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs prof. Ph.D.D.Sc.Eng. Andrzej Żyluk and Brig. Gen. (Ret.) prof. Jerzy Lewitowicz.
Event was attended by, mong others: Inspector of the Air Force in the General Command of the Types of the Armed Forces Gen. Brig. pil. Jacek Pszczoła, Deputy Commander of Operational Types of the Armed Forces Gen. Div. D.Sc. Eng. pil. Tadeusz Mikutel, Director of the Institute of Aviation, D.Sc.Eng. Paweł Stężycki and retired generals: Roman Harmoza (president of the Warsaw-Mazovian Branch of the Association of Polish Military Aviation Seniors), Ph.D. pil. Jerzy Gotowała and Lech Majewski.
The conference consisted of three sessions devoted to:
- History of Polish aviation - the session was chaired by General Lech Majewski;
- Development of the aviation industry in Poland, from the past to the future - the session was chaired by General Jerzy Lewitowicz;
- The present and future of Polish aviation - the session was chaired by General Jerzy Gotowała.
Employees from ITWL gave the following presentations:
- "Airplanes that have not been given a chance to shine in the Polish sky" - authors: Jerzy Lewitowicz, Andrzej Szelmanowski, Andrzej Pazur;
- "Emergency descent system of combat aircraft" - authors: Grzegorz Kowaleczko, Andrzej Żyluk.
