Project codenamed "ROSEMARY"

Collaboration between scientific centers of the Military Electronics Faculty at the Military University of Technology and the Air Force Institute of Technology with the leading national defense industry player in the field of microwave devices and systems – Kubara Lamina S.A., Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów S.A. – a part of PGZ, and SILTEC Sp. z o.o. – a national leader in the production of devices for protecting classified information, offers a real opportunity to harness the potential of stakeholders to design and build innovative weaponry within the framework of the project titled "Autonomous Distributed System for Combating Unmanned Aerial Vehicles on a Universal Transport Platform," codenamed "ROSEMARY." The mentioned project has received funding from the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) in the amount of PLN 26 million.

As part of the project, a non-kinetic mobile weapon will be developed to neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the form of a technology demonstrator (VI TRL), with a proposal for its further development into a prototype (IX TRL) after obtaining approval from the Ministry of National Defense (MON). Foundations for integration with kinetic weapons (such as the Multi-Barrel Machine Gun produced by Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów) and other battlefield systems with future interfaces will also be created.

The weapon will generate high-power microwave pulses with a power of at least 1 GW (energy of 10J) in the L and S bands. Its key components will include the power supply system, High Power Microwave (HPM) pulse generator, antenna, and chassis. This project will develop technologies and devices for new directed energy weapon systems for the needs of the Armed Forces and other uniformed services. The outcome of this project will contribute to additional armaments in the arsenal of forces and defensive means that can be utilized during the defense and protection of critical elements of the "Wisła" and "Narew" systems and can be integrated with other systems such as "Bystra," "Pilica," or "Pilica +".
