On July 22, 2025, at the Air Force Institute of Technology, a meeting of the Secretary of State in the Ministry of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk, with the Directors of Military Research Institutes took place.
The event was accompanied by signing four contracts and one agreement, under which the Military Research Institutes received new tasks. These tasks concern the improvement of tactics, techniques and procedures of using the Unmanned Weapon Systems. The scope of work will include, e.g., design, production, testing, research, maintenance of drones and providing technical and substantive support. On the part of the Ministry of National Defence, the documents were signed by the Secretary of State Cezary Tomczyk. On the part of the Military Research Institutes, their directors: Col. Paweł Sweklej, Ph.D., Eng. - Director of the Military Institute of Armament Technology, Mirosław Kowalski, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. - Director of the Air Force Institute of Technology, Marcin Szczepaniak, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. - Director of the Military Institute of Engineering Technology, Bogusław Kot, Ph.D., Eng. - Director of the Military Institute of Chemistry and Radiometry, and Col. Michał Cermuga, Ph.D., Eng. - Director of the Military Institute of Armoured and Automotive Technology.
Minister Cezary Tomczyk announced the creation of a Drone Center based on the Air Force Institute of Technology. The new facility will deal with the testing, development and implementation of unmanned systems on land, in the air and at sea.
The signing ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of National Defence i.e. Inspector for Unmanned Weapons Systems, General Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces (DG RSZ) - Brig. Gen. Mirosław Bodnar, Director of the Innovation Department - Brig. Gen. Marcin Górka, Deputy Commander of the Territorial Defence Forces - Brig. Gen. Grzegorz Barabieda and representatives of military units, including the Commander of the 19. Lublin Mechanized Brigade Brig. Gen. Marcin Zawodniak.
The meeting was accompanied by a static and dynamic exhibition of equipment of Military Research Institutes.
