The date June 17, 1953, is officially recognized as the day of the establishment of the post-war technical military aviation institute. In essence, it was not a new military institute in Poland, especially since it assumed a significant portion of the tasks of the pre-war Institute of Aviation Technology (ITL), thus becoming its successor and the continuation of its activities interrupted by World War II.
The name "Institute of Aviation Technology of the Armed Forces" was introduced five years later, in 1958, based on the decree of the Minister of National Defense.
