Airfield Division
The basic task is to ensure safe operation of airport pavements by analyzing the parameters characterizing its technical condition.
For over 65 years, Division has been supporting the activities of airport services, including the implementation of research and development as well as technical and service works. The Division performs expert opinions, opinions and reports based on comprehensive laboratory and field tests.
In order to ensure the safety of aircraft during air operations Airfield Division provides services in the scope of technical consultancy, technological supervision and inspections of technical condition of airport pavements operated on civil and state aviation facilities.
Selected works:
research works carried out in laboratory conditions, which include:
- materials and technologies used in the construction, refurbishment, rapid repair and maintenance of airport pavements made of cement and asphalt concrete;
- innovative materials and technologies used in the construction and quick reconstruction of damaged airfield pavements;
- technical decisions regarding the assessment of the suitability of innovative materials and products for use on airport pavements, not covered by Polish and European normative documents;
- control tests on the quality of materials used for airport pavements;
expert opinions on:
- quality of materials used for the construction, renovation, reconstruction and maintenance of airport pavements made of cement and asphalt concrete;
- technology and quality of works performance;
diagnostics of airport pavements in the scope of:
- geotechnical;
- carrying capacity;
- longitudinal and transverse equality;
- anti-slip properties;
- tearing resistance of the surface layer;
- a
- ssessment of the degree of degradation of airport pavements determined on the basis of information obtained during visual inspections;
- comprehensive assessment of the technical condition of airport pavements made of cement and asphalt concrete;
- examination of the impact of de-icing agents on airport pavements made of cement and asphalt concrete;
- examination of physicochemical properties of de-icing agents;
- identification of structural layers of airport pavements;
- geo-radar tests of airport pavement construction;
- exploring the possibility of adapting military airports for the needs of NATO;
- examination of the possibility of using motorways and roadside sections of airports as part of performing tasks by the Polish Armed Forces;
- development of new research methods for airport pavements;
- study of the effects of the effects of modern aviation technology on airport pavements;
- technological consultancy and technical supervision during construction, renovation and operation tests of airport pavements;
- development of normative documents and guidelines used by airport departments;
- specialized trainings of airport infrastructure service personnel.
