The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Rajmund Andrzejczak, paid a visit to the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). The meeting was hosted by the Director of AFIT, Ph.D., D.Sc. Eng. Mirosław Kowalski, prof. ITWL, and took place on April 7, 2021.

Presentation of the latest achievements and achievements of the Institute
The first part of the visit of the Chief of General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces took place in the building of the Center for Innovative Aviation Technologies. After the official greeting the Director Mirosław Kowalski presented latest solutions and achievements of the institute in the field of technical support for the Polish Armed Forces. In this part, General Rajmund Andrzejczak got acquainted with the static exhibition, which displayed, among others, unmanned aerial vehicles of the "Wiewer" and "Orlik" classes, the Neo-3 ASF UAV used to detect wild boars infected with ASF disease and the Hornet unmanned aerial vehicles implemented for training of the Polish Air Defense Forces, and the Jet-2 unmanned aerial target, which thanks to the ability to develop a speed of 160 m/s, significantly increases the realism of the Anti-aircraft Defense Forces exercises As part of the exhibition, air defense systems were also presented, including the LBĆw-10-k laser corrected bomb, the passive defense system of manned air platforms consisting of the K-811H cartridge and thermal jamming cartridges as well as the Exercise bombing set intended for the practical training of basic flying personnel - developed together with Zakłady Metalowe DEZAMET based in Nowa Dęba.

Visit to the Emitter Database Laboratory
Another item on the agenda of the visit of the Chief of General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces was a visit to the Emitter Database Laboratory, where the General was presented with the experience and achievements of ITWL in the field of radio-electronic warfare (WRE).
The most important of the issues presented in the laboratory included the participation of ITWL in the work on the creation of the National Emitters Database, the implementation of the ongoing development project "Electronic Warfare Test Site" and the completed and prepared for implementation project "KRUK Automated Reconnaissance Data Processing". In addition, the progress in the implementation of the task necessary for the needs of defense, consisting in the development of a procedure for programming radio-electronic self-defense systems of the Armed Forces platforms - in accordance with the Decision No.Z-50 / Spec. / P2 of the Minister of National Defense - July 3, 2017. The progress of the work consisting in the modification of the KKR-1TE reconnaissance bunkers in variant I, in particular the electronic reconnaissance station commissioned by the Chief Engineer of the Air Force, as well as the concept of implementing the modification of the KKR-1TE reconnaissance trays in variant II (a thorough modification of the reconnaissance part of the tray consisting in replacement of all Russian equipment with its own - national ELINT electronic reconnaissance system produced by ITWL).

NATO AGS BL (Alliance Ground Surveillance Battle Lab)
Another point of General Andrzejczak's visit to the Air Force Institute of Technology was to be familiarized with the results of nearly three years of work by ITWL specialists on the strategic part of the NATO AGS (Alliance Ground Surveillance) system. As a result of the contract signed in 2017 with the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance Management Agency (NAGSMA) * worth nearly EUR 30 million, the institute has created a complete AGS simulation environment. The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces was presented with a complete simulator creating a virtual reality mapping the terrain and real objects, the image of the ground situation from the radar simulator, information about moving objects from the same radar when it works in the moving target indicator mode, and images in visible light and infrared, which can enter the system from national reconnaissance means belonging to NATO countries.
In the nearest future, the AGS Battle Laboratory system, created in Warsaw, will be placed in one of the North Atlantic Alliance bases, where it will be used as a research and testing environment, enabling simulation and modeling of the operational part of the AGS system in order to evaluate the concept designs included in CONOPS and assess the operational procedures used by providing an interpretative operational environment.
It is worth to emphasize that the development of the AGS BL system was greatly influenced by the excellent cooperation of ITWL and subcontractors such as AIRBUS DS, Leonardo or Exence from Wrocław.

Integrated ITWL avionic systems
The last, substantive point of General Andrzejczak's visit to the ITWL was a visit to the Avionics Department, which presented the Integrated Aircraft On-Board Avionic Systems implemented in the modernization programs of the Polish Armed Forces, including elements used on board the W3-PL Głuszec helicopter and the ORLIK MPT (Multi Purpose Trainer) aircraft.
In addition to the aforementioned "digital avionics" for the W-3 Głuszec helicopter and the ORLIK plane, the Institute is also the author of other strategic solutions from the point of view of national security, including: Modernization of "Mi" family helicopters including the Integrated Avionic System and Communication System and Helmet-mounted Display and Weapons Control Systems.

At the end of the visit, General Rajmund Andrzejczak made an entry in the Memorial Book of the Air Force Institute of Technology.
