On August 12, 2022, the Air Force Institute of Technology celebrated the Polish Army Day, which is usually celebrated on August 15 as a holiday of the Polish Armed Forces in memory of the victorious Battle of Warsaw in 1920, fought during the Polish-Bolshevik war, which saved Europe from Bolshevism.
The ceremony was held at the assembly square of the Institute, where the Director, PhD. Dsc. B. Eng. Mirosław Kowalski, prof. of ITWL described the history of the Polish Army Day, thanked guests and employees who gathered, and referred to the scientific category "A" granted to the Institute in July 2022 by the Minister of Education and Science in "Mechanical Engineering", which indicates the strong position of ITWL among Polish scientific institutions.
Later on, the Director gave gold, silver and bronze "Armed Forces in the Homeland Service” medals to soldiers and employees of ITWL, awarded by the decision issued on July 12, 2022 by the Minister of National Defence "For long-term, exemplary service or work in the Polish Army" and gold, silver and bronze medals “for Merits to National Defence" awarded by the decision of the Minister of National Defence issued on June 30, 2022 "in recognition of merits in development and strengthening of the defence of the Republic of Poland".
On behalf of the awarded persons, MSc. B. Eng. Krzysztof Golus from the ITWL Aircrafts and Helicopters Department, made a statement to express gratitude.
Later on in the ceremony, the Director of ITWL and the Chairman of the Scientific Council, Prof. PhD. Dsc. B. Eng. Wojciech Wawrzyński from the Warsaw University of Technology, gave doctoral and post-doctoral degrees in "Mechanical Engineering" awarded by the Scientific Council of the ITWL.
After the official part of the speeches by the Chairman of the Scientific Council and the Director of ITWL, the employees of the Institute met during an open-air party organized at the Institute.
